***COURTESY POST FOR WINSTON'S FAMILY*** Born January of 2013, Winston is a 40 lb. Rottweiler, Staffordhsire Terrier and long haired Miniature Dachshund, per a DNA test. When he was rescued from a kill shelter as a pup, part of his back left leg was missing. Several vets and orthopedic specialists recommended amputation, and Winston has done great ever since. He can go on long walks with ease! Winston has always lived in the home as part of a family, and does well in the car. He walks well on a leash, is potty trained and listens when he’s called. Winston is very loyal and protective, especially in his home. He loves their child, a toddler, and is vigilant about strangers coming into his home. While on walks, Winston isn't bothered by other people, but at home he is “the guard dog”, always on alert. Recently Winston nipped a guest in his family's home. It was a small break to the skin on her leg. This is the first time anything like this has ever happened. In June they will need in home child care and Winston is extremely protective of the toddler, so they need to rehome him. His family loves him dearly and this was a painful decision to make. They want Winston to become part of a new family who will take him on walks, love him, and include him in family activities. Email cause4sbpaws@gmail.com to contact Winston's family.
