Dutch Shepherd / Mixed : : Female : : Senior : : Large
Freya lived in the desert for an unknown amount of time with a pack of about 10 other dogs after their owner died. Good Samaritans have been feeding them and building structures for safety and warmth since then, and because they believed Freya could be pregnant (she wasn't, thank goodness), reached out to rescues to take her in. We had a foster offer to take Freya in, so the good samaritans earned her trust and they were able to leash her one day and bring her to her foster home. It took several months for her to get used to being in a home, but the other dogs taught her how to be an indoor dog. Now she hates going outside! She willingly goes out to do her potty business, but prefers to spend most of her time indoors after getting a taste of the good life. :) This 6-10-yr old Dutch Shepherd mix is an absolute sweetheart who loves all dogs. We have no idea how she is with cats but with how mellow she is, it’s hard to imagine she would go after them. She would probably do best in a home with other mellow dogs because they help her come out of her shell, but she may be fine as an only dog if someone is home most of the day. She is eager to learn and will require leash training and basic skills like sit, stay and down. She is incredibly intelligent and will just take a patient person wilking to oet her bloom in her own time.
