When Dexter Morgan was brought to the shelter, he had numerous open wounds all throughout his body. Although the vets cannot be certain what caused Dexter's wounds, they believe he was attacked by a big dog or other large animal. He was also emaciated and must have been on his own for a long time. We rescued Dexter from the shelter as soon as we could and took him to our vets the very same day. The vet told us that his wounds were on the way to healing and he had no broken bones. Dexter got antibiotics just to make sure he continued to heal without any infection. Although Dexter was understandably scared at first, he relaxed as soon as we brought him home. He was happy to see other dogs and was equally happy to have a warm lap to snuggle in. Dexter was understandably hesitant at first, but has now made a complete turnaround! He is such a happy boy and will make the perfect lap dog! He will gladly sit on your lap all day and will even paw at your hand so you can pet him. Dexter will need a little help with continuing potty training, but he is completely crate trained. He will happily go in his crate for a treat and sleeps soundly in his crate. Dexter also loves his chew toys and bones. We haven't been able to observe Dexter with children, but as long as they know to be gentle (he may still be hesitant while adjusting to a new home due to his background) we believe Dexter would enjoy the attention from little humans. Also, because Dexter was deprived of food for so long, he is protective over his food when it comes to other dogs (not humans). He has never nipped or snapped at the other dogs, but does do a little growl if they get too close to him while eating. He does not growl if a human gets near or touches him while eating (only the other dogs/cat). Besides this, Dexter loves his furry playmates. He frequently cuddles with his furry foster siblings and loves playing with them too. If you can give Dexter Morgan the love he deserves, please fill out the adoption application!
